Biofluorescence is not a gimmick

Hidden-light work only matters if the method and the ecology survive the aesthetics.

Ultraviolet-induced work has a way of becoming spectacle very quickly. The colour is unusual, the effect reads as futuristic, and the temptation is to stop there.

That is exactly where the work becomes least useful. The image matters because it reveals something real about an animal or material system, not because it lets the photographer cosplay as a wizard in the bush.

The obligation after the image

If hidden-light work is going to be taken seriously, it needs method notes, wavelength honesty, and a publication surface that can hold context. Otherwise it becomes moodboarding with a torch.
